Abia Advertising Agency Director arrested by DSS over electoral violence

The Director, Abia State Signage and Advertisement Agency (ABSAA), Tony Otuonye, has been arrested over pioneering electoral violence in the state .

He was apprehended by the Department of State Services today, over the threats made to execute any electorate who refuses to cast vote for the governorship candidate of the Ruling Party, Chief Okey Ahiwe

Otuonye, in the viral video,was seen threatening to establish violence against voters who plans to vote for governorship candidates in the opposition parties

It was later disclosed that Tony has been granted administrative bail by the secret Police of the state.

The State Director of DSS, Mr Friday Onuche confirmed this release to Vanguard correspondent in Umuahia , he also stressed that the Advertising Agency boss would be reporting daily at the DSS office throughout the electoral process.

Speaking further, he warned politicians and their supporters against engaging in any activity capable of setting the state on fire.

He also revealed that the security agencies wouldn’t close an eye against anyone who engages in any activity capable of plunging the state into needless crisis.

According to him, People should conduct themselves in a civil manner and allow the electorates to vote according to their conscience without any molestations.

Mr Friday also said that the Service and sister security agencies have a role to ensure that Abia is made conducive for peaceful elections. Our business is election security management.

When asked if the ABSAA boss was going to be prosecuted, he said that the suspect was not yet off the hook.

In addition, he said that Inciting violence is a recipe for the crisis, and they won’t allow such as those planning similar things should know that there is no space for them in Abia because the service and other security agencies will deal with them.

The DSS Director concluded by assuring that Abia would be made safe for all before, during and after the elections

Reacting to this claim, the Acting Publicity Secretary, Abraham Amah, PDP, in a statement, denied any plot by the party to instigate violence at various polls, describing the party as a peaceful oriented one .

The party also accused the opposition parties of attempting to deploy thugs during the forthcoming polls.
