ANOTHER blow has hit the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at their ongoing National Convention in Ibadan as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) boycott the national event.

This was made known by the Governor of Adamawa State who is also the Chairman of the National Convention Organising Committee of the party, Alhaji Umaru Fintiri while addressing the delegates at the venue of the event in Ibadan.

He advised that the convention be discontinued, he said it is not within his power but leaves the delegates to decide.

Fintiri said “With the absence of INEC and the various litigations for and against this convention, it is not within my prerogative to continue with this exercise. I leave the convention delegates to decide”

Earlier this week, Wike’s camp described the convention holding in Oyo State as an ‘early Christmas party‘, while former Jigawa Governor Sule Lamido assured that the convention will be illegal if they go on with it.

Meanwhile, another serving Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang of Plateau State dissociated himself from the expulsion of Nyesom Wike, Ayodele Fayose and others from the party. This was few minutes after Umaru Fintiri took the same position.

Muftwang said the expulsion of Wike and others was not discussed at their last Governor’s Forum and the action of the party was not a “strategy step toward in resolving the internal challenges currently confronting the PDP.”

He called for the need for a dialogue to resolve the internal crisis.
