There was pandemonium in Osogbo, Osun State on Saturday, August 14, 2021 as group loyal to the former governor allegedly stormed the APC Secretariat along Gbongan Road with petitions against the last Party Congress held in the State.

Reports filtered into the capital city that two factions of the party were seen using dangerous weapons against itself barely a year to the governorship elections in 2022.
Osun State that is regarded as the most peaceful state in Nigeria had its peace disrupted by political thugs loyal to the incumbent Governor, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola and his predesessor, Ogbeni Rauf Oyetola.
According to Insight Media report, a man identified as Muyideen Ajetunmobi who puts on a cap with inscription of “Oyetola 4+4” loyal to Oyetola camp was attacked by thugs allegedly loyal to the Seccretary of the party, Hon. Rasaq Salinsile.

It was reported that members of The Osun Progressives (TOP) stormed the party Secretariat as early as 8am to submit petitions to the Appeal Committee on ward Congresses held two weeks ago across the State.
Ajetunmobi, a resident of Osogbo Local Government, told our correspondent that he was attacked by thugs who insisted that he removes his cap. He said the incident happened at the party Secretariat.
“It is true. I was attacked at the party secretariat by TOP members who insisted that I should remove my cap. They all followed party Secretary Alhaji Salinsile into the secretariat.”

When asked if he was there before TOP or he met them at the secretariat, Ajetunmobi said, “I was there before them. I was with my Honourable when they came and they said no one should put on Oyetola’s cap that I should remove it. That’s when they started attacking me and injured me on my head.”
However, a member of TOP, Kazeem Olanrewaju said the attack was launched on them by IleriOluwa group. He said the man that was injured got his head wounded while he was running out of the compound.
He said, “that man led the attack on the Party secretary and he was repelled, that’s how he hit his head on the gate while running out of the compound. No one attacked him. They are the ones that sent thugs to us.”

Meanwhile, the Osun State Governor, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola has called for calm among the aggrieved members of his party.
Oyetola has ordered security agents to take control of the party Secretariat to avoid further chaos.
It would be recalled that before the escalation of the crisis in APC, the two principals of the two aggrieved factions denied any rancour among them, yet we heard them opposing each others on the popular FM Radio in Osogbo.

What happened at the APC Secretariat today has openly opened the can of worms in the party that can only be resolved by the Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Aregbesola and the Governor of Osun State, Oyetola.
It is hope that the two leaders would not wait until thugs start attacking homes before their intervention.
