
Suspected bandits on Tuesday night attacked the Old National Park Service (NPS) office in Oloka, Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State, killing personnel.
The conservator of the park, Mr Tesleem Kareem, confirmed the incident in an interview with the SOJ WORLDWIDE on Wednesday, saying the service was in the process of evacuating the victims.
“Yes, it is true. We are currently evacuating the victims,” Kareem said.
He added that the exact number of casualties was still being verified.
The attack reportedly occurred around 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday and the bodies of the slain are yet to be recovered, as they are believed to be within the surrounding forest.

Oyo State Command spokesperson, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, also confirmed the incident, describing the assailants as yet-to-be-identified armed men who targeted NPS personnel.
He said the Commissioner of Police, Femi Haruna, alongside other security service chiefs, were on their way to the scene to assess the situation.
The police spokesperson added that Haruna had ordered the immediate deployment of tactical teams, operatives of the Mobile Police Force (MPF), and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit to the area to prevent further breakdown of law and order.
Ayanlade assured residents that security agencies are fully on top of the situation and urged the public to remain calm as investigations and security operations continue.
