Panic gripped residents of Yadul in Garaha District, Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State, on Sunday evening, December 29, 2025, following a fresh and deadly attack by suspected Boko Haram terrorists.

According to local sources, the insurgents stormed Mubang and Zah communities between 6:16pm and 7:10pm, unleashing terror as they set several houses and structures on fire, plunging the area into chaos and fear.

Eyewitnesses said the attackers arrived heavily armed, firing sporadically while torching homes, forcing women, children, and the elderly to flee into nearby bushes and neighbouring villages for safety. Thick smoke was seen rising from different parts of the communities as flames spread rapidly.

“They came in the evening when people were relaxing. We heard gunshots and suddenly everywhere was burning. People ran in different directions,” a fleeing resident told reporters.

As of the time of filing this report, the exact number of casualties remains unclear, and it is uncertain whether there were abductions during the attack — a common tactic of the insurgent group. Many residents are still unaccounted for, raising fears of possible kidnappings.

Security forces are yet to release an official statement, but locals say military and vigilante groups have been alerted and are expected to move into the area to restore calm and assess the level of destruction.

This latest attack highlights the persistent insecurity in parts of Adamawa State, despite ongoing counter-insurgency operations in the North-East. Residents are once again calling on the federal and state governments to strengthen security presence in vulnerable rural communities.

More details are expected as the situation develops.
