In a communique issued this Wednesday evening at the end of a meeting between the Nigeria Labour Congress and the trade union congress with executives of the joint public service negotiating council, organised Labour said if nothing is done by october 16, 2019, workers will down tools.

Labour said workers are losing their patients following governments continous and deliberate attempts to prolong every discussions surrounding the minimum wage, despite the high cost of goods and services following the fall on the value of the Naira
The communique which was signed by NLC president, Ayuba Wabba, TUC president olaleye Qadiri and officials of the joint public service negotiating council told workers to begin mobilisation
Although the minimum wage was signed into law since April 2019, the adjustment for grade levels seven to 17 has been bedeviled by disagreement between government and labour

While government agrees to pay 11 percent on grade levels 7 to 14 and 6.5 percent for levels 15 to 17 labour insists on 29 percent for levels 7 to 14 and 24 for levels 15 to 17.
