PRESIDENT Donald Trump ally Charlie Kirk was shot in the neck at a school event at Utah
Police say the shooting happened at around 12:10 local time, and the suspect is in custody.

“He was shot in the neck. He’s at the hospital. It doesn’t look good,” says Marina Minas from Turning Point USA, a conservative group founded by Kirk.
He is said to be in a critical condition.

Campus police have just posted an update on X about the shooting, confirming that Kirk was shot and that a suspect is in custody.
“Today at about 12:10 a shot was fired at the visiting speaker, Charlie Kirk. He was hit and taken from the location by his security. Campus police is investigating, a suspect is in custody,” the post says.
A suspect is in custody, the university said in a statement. Kirk was invited by a student group and was speaking when a shot was fired from a campus building about 200 yards away.
Democratic governors condemn shooting
California Gov. Gavin Newsom called the shooting of Charlie Kirk “disgusting, vile, and reprehensible.”
“In the United States of America, we must reject political violence in EVERY form,” Newsom said in a post on X.
Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro also condemned the attack, calling the shooting in a post on X “horrifying.”

“Political violence has no place in our county,” Shapiro posted. “We must speak with moral clarity.”
Echoing other governors, Maryland Gov. Wes Moore said he condemns the shooting “in the strongest possible terms.”
“As I have said in the past and as I will continue to say: Political violence is never acceptable. Ever,” Moore said on X.
