Former Military Leader, Babangida Returns to Nigeria After Medical Trip Abroad

General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, the former military leader, has returned to Nigeria following two months in Switzerland for medical checkups.

It was gathered that the former president flew on a chartered airplane on Thursday and arrived at Minna, his hometown, on his way to Abuja.

It is important to remember that General Babangida left the country on Saturday, January 7, 2023, for a routine medical examination. He flew out of the country in a private jet and connected at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

Babangida arrived at Abuja International Airport around 4 pm. and was received by the  former National Security Adviser, Gen Aliyu Gusau. 

There were rumours that the former President envisaged some upheavals ahead and during the general elections which was immediately dispelled by his Spokesperson, Alhaji Mahmud Abdullahi.

Mahmud in his reaction to the rumour then simply said, “the General is not envisaging any controversy.

“The former Military President is not envisaging any controversy before and after the elections. All I know is that he is scheduled for a checkup and this is what he has gone for,” he affirmed.
