Ganduje Withdraws Parallel Hisbah Plan
Baffa Babba Dan’agundi announced the decision in an official statement.
Dan’agundi is the Director-General of the National Productivity Centre and a senior APC leader in Kano.
He said Ganduje took the step to promote peace, security, and stability in Kano State.
Stakeholders Intervene Across Kano
Dan’agundi explained that the decision followed a stakeholders’ meeting across Kano’s 44 local government areas.
The stakeholders held the meeting at the Tinubu campaign office in Kano.
According to him, the plan for an independent Hisbah group triggered widespread public backlash.
As a result, key institutions intervened to prevent tension.
These included the Kano State Government, the Department of State Services, and community leaders.
Independent Hisbah Initiative Suspended
Dan’agundi said the meeting agreed to suspend the Independent Hisbah Fisabilillah initiative.
Stakeholders want the Kano State Government to resolve the issue through dialogue.
They also agreed to respect constituted authority in Kano State.
In addition, they pledged cooperation with security agencies to maintain law and order.
Background to the Kano Hisbah Controversy
Earlier, Ganduje launched a private Hisbah board through the Ganduje Foundation.
The move sparked controversy across Kano State.
In response, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf issued an executive order banning the group immediately.
Observers expect the suspension to reduce political tension in the state.
They also expect stronger cooperation between government officials and community stakeholders.
