READ ALSO: OSUN: Governor Adeleke’s Renewed Bid To Join APC Is Dead-On-Arrival By Adebayo Adeleke (BANIK)
The Osun State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC has accused Governor Ademola Adeleke of begging former Governor Rauf Aregbesola to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC), citing his recent verbal attacks on Aregbesola as evidence of his desperation.
In a Press Release signed by the
Osun State APC Director Of Media and Information, Mogaji Kola Olabisi available to SOJ WORLDWIDE, he said “Adeleke’s desperation to secure a second term ticket amounts to going back to swallow his vomit given his recent verbal attack on Aregbesola.”
Adeleke had previously begged to join our party, APC, but his overtures were turned down on account of his fantastic failure in office as his poor public rating, it was considered, could generate reproach for our party and erode public confidence in the progressive brand the party had built over the years.

No one would have envisaged that Adeleke would one day contemplate having a political rapprochement with Aregbesola he called unprintable names just four months ago.
It is strange that Adeleke now sees Aregbesola as his political messiah without whom his second term ambition is in danger given the legal hurdles being faced by the PDP at the national level, a development which may negatively impact on Adeleke’s documentation and nomination to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as two factions are now laying claims to the leadership of the party.
It would be recalled that barely four months ago, 14th July, 2025, Adeleke in a press statement, described Ogbeni Aregbesola as
“a man who left a legacy of huge state debt, half salary, scam tablets and several fanciful, inflated, uncompleted projects.”

Adeleke continued: “Within less than three years, Governor Adeleke has surpassed government delivery of the eight years of Mr Aregbesola without borrowing a Kobo for infrastructure projects. The current administration has reduced Osun debt left by Aregbesola…
“Osun people know their present and past governors. Our people are smart enough to know that the worst era for Osun State is that of Mr Aregbesola under whom many pensioners lost their lives, thousand of lives were disrupted, and the state plunged into unsustainable debt that is still hurting the state till date.”
If not for desperation and complete lack of honour, why should Adeleke now go cap in hand, genuflecting before the man he called a pension eater, debt lover and a smelling “shrew (Asin) who does not know that he is smelling?”
The people of Osun State can now see through the pretence and betrayal of the distraught Adeleke who in his reckless romanticization to hold on to power and further ran the state into economic abyss, can sleep with an Ali Baba and the person he called some months ago ‘the plunderer of Osun wealth’.

“The people of Osun should reject Adeleke at the poll for betraying their mandate. During electioneering, he promised to make life more meaningful to them by creating jobs for the teeming youths of the state, enhance their standard of living and make education accessible to the masses. Despite earning a revenue of one trillion naira in 35 months, how many of these promises has Adeleke kept?
In UNILESA and UNIOSUN, students now pay as high as N1.5 million per session to study. In the Osun State Polytechnic, Iree and Osun State College of Technology, Esa-Oke, school fees have been increased three times in the last three years of Adeleke’s administration.
Rather than employing teachers and making learning conducive, the Adeleke government sacked 1,500 teachers and duped over 32,000 job applicants who participated in the Osun teachers’ recruitment almost two years ago.
“Governor Adeleke is known for betrayal. He betrayed his kinsman, Rt Hon. Adejare Bello, over the 2018 governorship ticket in the PDP. Adeleke had previously sought the understanding and support of Adejare, a former Speaker of the state assembly, for his 2017 Senate by-election to replace his deceased brother, Senator Isiaka
Adetunji Adeleke.

He promised to back Adejare for the 2018 governorship election. After winning his election in 2017, Adeleke turned around to ghost the former Speaker, aiming the governorship ticket himself.
This raw act of betrayal of the Adelekes led to the untimely exit of Adejare from the PDP. Many politicians, like Dr Akin Ogunbiyi, Omooba Dotun Babayemi, the late Adesoji Adagunodo, have also recounted their taste of betrayal in the hands of Adeleke.
We, as a party, are appealing to the electorate to look before they leap as the collusion between Adeleke and the former minister for “prison breaks” would further impoverish the citizens and destroy the future of the state.
It is pertinent to know that 2026 is a payback time, as stated by Adeleke himself, “when Osun State people will punish the former Governor Aregbesola and his new party (ADC) for wilfully inflicting pains and suffering on Osun people throughout his eight years’ rule.”
The people should heed the counsel of Adeleke by rejecting the ADC at the poll in 2026.

Meanwhile, the Spokesperson to the Osun State Governor, Mallam Olawale Rasheed (MOR) reacted to the allegation that Governor Adeleke is hobnobbing with the ADC ahead of the 2026 gubernatorial election.
MOR described the allegation as a “mere fake news“. He described the report as fake news and a mere fabrication from the opposition.
“Our attention has been drawn to a statement credited to the Osun State APC Chairman that Governor Ademola Adeleke is negotiating with former Governor Rauf Aregbesola about joining the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The report is false and the entire assertions by the opposition are mere fabrication and fake news.
Governor Adeleke is not negotiating with former Governor Aregbesola about ADC and the governor is not joining ADC.
The members of the public are hereby implored to ignore the fake news from the pit of hell.”
