A petition has submitted by a group calling for a full investigation into Otunba Iyiola Omisore’s eligibility and conduct, citing allegations of corruption, forgery, and perjury.
The allegations include suspicious circumstances surrounding his resignation as APC National Secretary, serious allegations documented in Chief Bisi Akande’s book, and allegations of forged academic and birth certificates.
The petition requests the Osun APC Igbimo Agba to conduct a formal inquiry, suspend Omisore’s governorship nomination, and set up a Special Ethics and Compliance Committee to handle the inquiry.

1. SUSPICIOUS AND UNTIDY CIRCUMSTANCES SURROUNDING HIS ABRUPT RESIGNATION AS APC NATIONAL SECRETARY
Upon the assumption of office by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Otunba Iyiola Omisore suddenly resigned his position as National Secretary of the APC. This resignation has continued to generate serious concerns, rumours and unresolved questions within the party nationwide.
Widespread internal narratives claim that:
He was allegedly directed to resign due to accusations of receiving a $5 million bribe from a presidential aspirant in the 2022 primary election, allegedly to work against the interest of the then APC leader and now President of Nigeria.
He was allegedly pressured to resign as a result of accusations of mismanaging or failing to account for party funds reported to be approximately ₦32 billion.
These rumours have not been addressed transparently by any official APC organ. Silence has only deepened concerns.
Therefore, we respectfully request that the Igbimo Agba conduct a formal inquiry into:
Whether his resignation was voluntary or coerced.
Whether the alleged financial mismanagement was investigated;
Whether any disciplinary report exists;
Whether these matters affect his eligibility for governorship nomination.
2. SERIOUS ALLEGATIONS DOCUMENTED IN CHIEF BISI AKANDE’S BOOK “MY PARTICIPATIONS”
Chief Bisi Akande — a founding father of the APC, former Governor of Osun State and former APC National Chairman — published grave allegations and character-related concerns involving Otunba Iyiola Omisore.
In the book, Chief Akande wrote, among other things, that:
“There were questions surrounding the authenticity of some of the credentials he (Omisore) presented…”
He also described longstanding concerns about trust, integrity and internal crises, stating that:
“Certain behaviours created deep doubts about loyalty and honesty within the political structure.”
Chief Akande wrote again in his book that “The third occasion was
when four Peugeot 504 cars were being given to every governor-elect by the military authority as take-off transport needs to the governor before
inauguration. lyiola Omisore was said to have used my name without my authority to
collect the four cars from the then Osun State Secretary to
the Government – Elder Femi Adelowokan. He sent one to me and appropriated three
to himself. I then requested for the other three cars. After a while, he claimed one was
snatched by robbers on the way to Cotonou in Benin Republic and that another had a serious
accident. So, he never brought the remaining three cars.”
These excerpts — publicly available and widely discussed across Nigeria — raise serious issues that require verification by the party’s highest moral and disciplinary organ.
We request that the Igbimo Agba critically review the allegations stated in the book and determine their implications for his suitability as a governorship candidate under the APC.
3. ALLEGATIONS OF FORGED ACADEMIC AND BIRTH CERTIFICATES (AS REFERENCED IN AKANDE’S BOOK)
Chief Akande alleged in his book that there were controversies around:
The authenticity of Iyiola Omisore’s academic certificate(s).
According to Akande, “In 1998, I called lyiola Omisore
and his friend, Kunle Alao alias
‘Lele’ to my cousin’s pharmacy
store named Adetola Chemists
at Igbona area of Osogbo. I made it clear to lyiola that the general perception of the party
leadership was that he was a suspected advanced fee fraudster
and a certificate forger. I made references to some of the cases
against him in courts, including that of Col. Laoye from Ede.

“I said however, that no one
had told me if he had ever
been convicted of any crime. I declared to him that I was prepared to let him be part of the AD governorship ticket but
warned him to ensure that he completed the necessary forms
with honesty and sincerity, I begged him to include and attach only his genuine educational
qualifications and certificates. ‘If
it is only Primary Six certificate
you have, that is the one you
should use’, I told him. ‘please, don’t use any certificate that is
forged’, I pleaded.
“He said his certificate were burnt
during the Ife-Modakeke crisis.”
To maintain the moral standing of the APC, we pray the Igbimo Agba to investigate:
1. What academic certificate(s) Omisore submitted to INEC in 1999 when he served as running mate to Chief Bisi Akande.
2. The certificates submitted to the National Electoral Commission during the military era.

3. Whether discrepancies exist between the documents submitted across different election cycles.
4. Whether any institution has ever denied issuing the certificates attributed to him.
4. REQUEST FOR INVESTIGATION INTO GRAVE ALLEGATIONS MADE BY HON. ROTIMI MAKINDE (2011)
In 2011, APC Chieftain and former House of Representatives Member Hon. Rotimi Makinde publicly alleged in a media interview that Otunba Iyiola Omisore was responsible for the deaths of two of his cousins in Ile-Ife.
According to Makinde during a press briefing published in 2011 by SaferAfricaGroup, ” I gave the identities of these assassins to the police, including the description of the two vehicles they cruise about town in, which belong to Omisore. Still, no arrest was made. When my residence was attacked two days later, the assassins came from the same place where they held the earlier meeting”.
We are not asserting this allegation as fact.
However, due to the extremely serious nature of such a claim and its potential impact on the image of the APC, we request:
That the Igbimo Agba examine whether the allegation was ever reported formally;
Whether any investigation was conducted;
Whether any official records exist relating to this matter.
5. REQUEST FOR IMMEDIATE SUSPENSION OF HIS NOMINATION UNTIL INVESTIGATIONS ARE COMPLETED
Given the weight of unresolved allegations, rumours and published claims from highly credible figures, we respectfully urge the Igbimo Agba to:
Suspend the governorship nomination of Otunba Iyiola Omisore pending full investigation
Set up a Special Ethics and Compliance Committee to handle the inquiry
Ensure a fair hearing for all parties
This action will safeguard the integrity of the party and prevent avoidable electoral risk in Osun State.

We submit this petition in good faith, guided by:

We trust that the Igbimo Agba will treat this matter with the seriousness it deserves.
