Fear gripped residents of the Oke-Ado area of Ibadan on Wednesday when a sting operation by the Oyo State Police Command turned the usually busy neighborhood into a battleground.

Eyewitnesses recounted how officers, acting on intelligence, swooped in on a two-man gang suspected of trailing and robbing unsuspecting bank customers across the city.

What began as a discreet chase quickly escalated into a fierce gun duel that rattled the entire community.

The suspects, fortified with charms wrapped around their bodies, resisted arrest and exchanged bullets with the police in a standoff that stretched for several minutes.

By the time the smoke cleared, one robber lay lifeless on the ground, while his partner was overpowered and arrested.

Residents, shaken by the echo of gunfire, watched in panic as the drama unfolded, unsure of what would come next. The police have since moved in to restore calm to the area.
