I just hope no one thinks the forthcoming bye-election in Osun West to determine who replaces late Senator Isiaka Adeleke of blessed memory is a yardstick to test how APC as a party is faring in Osun State? Or an election between Gov. Rauf Aregbesola and the local opponents? Or a contest between Sen Mudasir Hussein and Dr Demola Adeleke.

To think in that direction is to be hypocritical, insensitive and economical with the facts of the matter.
This shall be a clear test case of how Nigerians want to be governed. Do we want the progress of the nation as it relates to this steady progress? Are we enjoying the change mantra or we are prepared to go back to witness more of insecurity kidnapping, vandalization and other mind boggling revelations of stealing and corruption of PDP days?
Are we ready to continue to embrace these transformation agenda or do we wish to go back to our previous maladministration?
This election is certainly going to be an acid test for the ruling government and the opposition.
Lest we forget that the journey to our present stardom being enjoyed by our party, APC actually started in the State of Osun where the combined efforts of APC followers checkmated the Tsunami of the then ruling party, PDP coming from Ekiti State.
It will therefore be a big task for Chief John Oyegun led Executive at the National level, a portfolio test to the likes of Dr Segun Oni who is today warming up for his “personal ambition” to return to power in Ekiti State. So also for our respected leader, Chief Akinyelure as well as many other South West leaders not excluding our dear Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
It will be an opportunity to test people’s acceptability of those 2018 governorship gladiators warming up in Osun West in their respective Local Governments and Constituencies. Above all, it will be a challenge for us to demonstrate and reciprocate our love for our dear state. It will also be a political test for the newly appointed Commissioners and Special Advisers from every part of the axis that make Osun West.
Let us be mindful that Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola is a governor already, Hussein has also been a Senator, and they have had their privileges.

It is therefore a matter of collective responsibility.
