A 40-year-old pastor accused of raping a 14-year-old girl at a church in Sibasa earlier this month appeared in the Thohoyandou Magistrate’s Court, South Africa, on Monday, July 21. He was remanded in custody until July 30 for profiling and further investigation.
The alleged assault occurred on July 9 after the suspect reportedly called the minor to the church premises. Upon arrival, the victim found the pastor alone in the office.
Police spokesperson Col Malesela Ledwaba stated that the suspect allegedly locked the door, forced the girl into sexual acts, and repeatedly raped her before threatening her into silence.
The victim disclosed the ordeal to her family on Saturday, leading to the pastor’s arrest. Authorities continue to investigate the case.
