Nollywood actor Abija has shared a poignant experience that still brings him immense pain. During an interview on FEELRIGHTNEWS TV, he recounted the saddest moment of his life when he lost his wife on a Sallah day while he was away on a movie shoot.
Abija had given his wife money to cook before leaving for the shoot, unaware it would be their last moment together. While on set, a messenger arrived with devastating news, but his colleagues kept it from him. “Before we got to the village, the messenger that came to tell me that my wife was dead arrived before us. And he told my manager, but nobody told me,” he recalled.
Abija noticed unusual conversations among his colleagues but was kept in the dark. It wasn’t until the next day that he was told to return home, under the pretense that his wife was sick and needed surgery. “A friend of mine came to me and told me we have to go back to our town because my wife was sick… not knowing they were deceiving me to go home that my wife was dead,” he said, still visibly pained.
The incident left Abija deeply heartbroken. “It pains me very, very much. It pains me very, very much,” he repeated, reflecting on the loss that still resonates with him.
