At least four Nigerians who joined Russia to fight in Ukraine died in drone attacks, sources confirmed. DAILY NIGERIAN reports that recruiters misled the men about their roles before sending them to the frontlines. This tragedy raises urgent concerns about deceptive recruitment.
False Promises Lured Nigerians to Ukraine
The deceased fighters, Adam Anas, Akinlawon Tunde Quyuum, Abugu Stanley Onyeka, and Balogun Ridwan Adisa, joined under the false promise of “security jobs.” After only three weeks of training, Russian forces deployed them to the warzone.
Anas, Quyuum, Onyeka, and the only surviving fighter, Abubakar Adamu, traveled together in November 2025, while Adisa joined earlier in the year. They died on different dates between December 2025 and January 2026. These deaths show how dangerous foreign recruitment can become for Africans.
