The Alleged Incident
Mirabel said she suffers from insomnia and often drinks alcohol to sleep. That night, after drinking, she heard a knock at her door. When she opened it, a man allegedly pushed her aside, causing her to pass out. After the incident, the alleged attacker reportedly sent her a direct message admitting the assault and saying he had to “cut” her.
Public Reaction
Many people reacted with shock and concern. Consequently, some visited Mirabel’s page and discovered she is an orphan without family support. Later, a friend revealed that Mirabel had attempted suicide after drinking sniper, a potent alcoholic beverage. Fortunately, the hospital staff saved her life.
As news spread, feminist groups, NGOs, and law enforcement, including LagosDSVA, stepped in to offer help. Despite their efforts, Mirabel avoided physical contact and refused to meet most of her supporters.

NGO and TikTok Intervention
An NGO scheduled a meeting with Mirabel and her friend, but when they arrived, she stopped answering calls. Subsequently, TikTok user VeryDarkMan posted a video of a call with Mirabel. He confirmed that she had left the hospital and said he planned to take her to Abuja for a proper medical check-up.
Questions and Inconsistencies
Meanwhile, questions about her story emerged. A TikTok influencer pointed out alleged inconsistencies. He suggested that the typing style of the supposed attacker matched Mirabel’s own messages. He called her story false and accused her of seeking attention.
Additionally, a neighbor from the apartment complex contradicted Mirabel’s account. He stated that the house rarely empties on Sundays. He also alleged that Mirabel misrepresented the timing of her mother’s death to solicit donations.
Mirabel Speaks Again
Later, Mirabel went live with her friends and offered a different version. She admitted that she knew the man and had seen him twice, although he does not live nearby. Her friend again appealed for public donations to support her.
Current Status
Currently, Mirabel continues to refuse assistance from NGOs, the police, and other helpers. She claims past negative experiences with law enforcement prevented her from trusting them. Many are now watching to see if she will travel to Abuja for the medical check-up, though doubts remain.
For now, the case remains unresolved. Public opinion is divided. Some support Mirabel, while others question her story. Ultimately, many questions remain unanswered.
