Tragedy struck in Iseyin earlier today as a 200-level female student of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Iseyin Campus, lost her life in a fatal accident.
Reports gathered revealed that the young student was heading to refill her gas cylinder when a speeding commercial bus ran over her, killing her on the spot.
Eyewitnesses described the incident as heartbreaking, noting that the victim had only just returned to campus to resume academic activities. Her sudden death has thrown the university community into deep mourning.
In reaction to the tragedy, aggrieved students took to the streets in protest, setting the bus involved in the accident ablaze and blocking major roads in Iseyin. The protest led to significant traffic disruption, as motorists and commuters were stranded for hours.
Security personnel were later deployed to the scene to restore calm and prevent further violence.
The incident has sparked conversations online with many Nigerians expressing grief and calling on relevant authorities to enforce stricter road safety measures around school environments to prevent such avoidable deaths.
