President Donald Trump announced today he would soon award Charlie Kirk a Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian honor awarded by the president.

Trump said the ceremony honoring the slain conservative activist would be large. “I can only guarantee you one thing: That will have a very big crowd,” Trump said.

The president was speaking outside the Pentagon at a ceremony honoring the 24th anniversary of the September 11 terror attacks.

Trump opened his remarks by remembering Kirk, who was a close political ally and a personal friend to many Trump advisers.

“Charlie was a giant of his generation, a champion of liberty and an inspiration to millions and millions of people. Our prayers are with his wonderful wife, Erika, and his beautiful children. Fantastic people,” he continued.

 

“We miss him greatly. Yet I have no doubt that Charlie’s voice and the courage he put into the hearts of countless people, especially young people, will live on,” he said.

Meanwhile, the shooter is still at large, a manhunt is underway for the shooter who killed Charlie Kirk, a prominent conservative political activist and supporter of President Donald Trump.
The FBI has released photos of a person of interest and is asking for the public’s help in identifying them. The weapon used has been found.
