POPULAR Comedian and actor, Olanrewaju Omiyinka popularly known as Baba Ijesha is in the news again.
He was reportedly released last week through the intervention the Oni of Ife, HRM Oba Ogunwusi Adeyeye.
A video of the Comedian with Ooni went viral as his fans went into jubilations while celebrating his perceived freedom.
The celebration did not last long when it was debunked that the video going viral was an old video that Baba Ijesha is still serving his 14 year jail term.

“Nigerian actor, Lanre Omiyinka, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, has confirmed that he is still in prison custody, contrary to viral rumors of his release.
In an exclusive interview with Alaroye TV online, Baba Ijesha expressed gratitude to his fans worldwide for their unwavering support. He acknowledged their desire to see him overcome his current challenges, but emphasized the importance of honesty, stating, “I’m still in prison, but I believe I will be free soon by God’s grace.”
Regarding a viral video featuring himself and the Ooni of Ife, Baba Ijesha clarified that it was an old recording made before his incarceration.
When asked about his most painful experience while in prison, Baba Ijesha shared the heartbreaking moment when he lost his father.
Due to his confinement, he was unable to pay his last respects, which he described as an extremely painful experience.
Baba Ijesha appealed to his fans and well-wishers to remember him in their prayers, thanking them for their condolences and support.”
It will be recalled that Baba Ijesha was sentenced to 14 years imprisonment by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on Thursday, July 14, 2022.
