Former Member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rotimi Makinde has officially declared his intention to recontest for the Ife Federal Constituency seat at the National Assembly in 2023.

He declared his intention during a Press Conference with newsmen held on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at the Oodua Fm Conference Hall. Ile-Ife.
Different Journalists from different Media platforms, Radio, Tv and newspaper which includes Unique Fm, Punch Newspaper, Nigerian Tribune, Vanguard Newspaper, News Agency of Nigeria, Orisun Fm, SOJ WORLDWIDE ONLINE NEWS, Amiloaded Media Hub and City Mirror were in attendance.
Makinde, a member of the Seventh Assembly (between 2011 and 2015) said he is re-contesting for the Federal seat after making reasonable consultations with stakeholders in the party and at the grassroots level in his constituency.
Declaring his intention in an official statement made available to Journalists, he said his intention is to see Ife develop, prosper and become the pride of Africa and the Black race.

He also stated that,
“In as much as we have hundreds of people with such attributes in our dear constituency, yet we need to face the reality of choosing one, the most ready, trusted, experienced and most importantly that have been tested in such capacity and who is ready to protect the interests of the common people of our constituency. I have, therefore, decided that I will formally declare my intention for the position of member of House of Representatives, IFE FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY.”
“As a child who grew up without spoons in the slums of Ile-Ife town and with the sole support of my parents, I pulled myself from this stagnancy and despair. I faced the future with uncommon courage, my primary and secondary education was in Ile-Ife and Modakeke area and I struggled hard to utilize slight opportunities into useful products to have masters in finance. That was why I became determined to create opportunities while in service of NNPC where I voluntarily resigned to answer the communal call tattoos me this far.” Hon Makinde stated.
He also said that “I have the requisite experience matched with wealth of knowledge to offer quality representation. to my people and to facilitate Federal presence to my Constituency with the primary aim of making life more abundant for my people socio-economically. It is also my resolve to unleash the full potentials of my ability to uphold the policy thrust of law making. I have taken copious mental and physical notes and its time for implementation in the interest of Ife Federal Constituency.
The founder of Oodua FM added that his ambition is not a do or die affair and any of his opposition party should see him as the one who is better to represent the people of Ife.
He also added that “golden opportunity and a great chance to display my courage, rekindle my innovative instinct, showcase my character and turn the Great Ife’s dream into reality as a ranking Federal Lawmaker with the blessing from my royal father, who I strongly hold in high esteem, His Royal Highness, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi (Ojaja II)”.
Hon Rotimi commended his political leader and mentor, the Executive Governor of Osun State, His Excellency Adegboyega Oyetola for his unwavering support in all ramifications He said may God bless him abundantly and make him realize his re-election into office in Osun State.
“I hereby call on all leaders of my great party, APC, traditional rulers, captains of fields and the great people of IFE FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY to join me on this historical, political journey guided by responsibilities as I am more determined to make us proud”. he concluded.
