A member of the House Of Representatives, who is also an aspirant for the 2022 Ekiti gubernatorial election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Hon. Olufemi Richard Bamisile, has formally declared his interest to contest for the number one seat in the State.
The event which took place at the party’s Secretariat in Ado-Ekiti, was presided over by the State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress,APC,Barrister Paul Omotoso. Members of the party leadership and the aspirant’s supporters turned up in their numbers to receive the aspirant.
The convoy of the carnival-like outing of the aspirant from the city centre to APC Secretariat, Ajilosun, Ado-Ekiti, caused traffic gridlock on the ever-busy Ado-Ikere road, with assorted music oozing out of the vehicles fitted with public address system.
In his speech, Hon. Femi Bamisile said his concern for the development of Ekiti State for economic prosperity and wellbeing of its citizens and residents propelled his interest in the governorship contest.
He appreciated Governor Kayode Fayemi for his developmental strides in different spheres of the State’s economy, describing him as a visionary, purposeful, competent and exemplary leader that will take the State to it’s expected eldorado.
Hon. Bamisile who is the Chairman, House Committee On Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) in the House Of Representatives, said by his ambition, he is positioning himself to contribute his quota to the growth of the State and wellbeing of its people.
He stressed that the thrust of his agenda if given the mandate will be ”Leadership and Good governance”. This, according to him is because the people have been yearning for leadership that can address the challenges of insecurity, youth unemployment and poverty which culminate in vicious economic cycle of low productivity and low income.
The former Speaker in the Ekiti State House Of Assembly, promised to commission both domestic and international experts who will profile the State’s abundant natural endowments in agriculture, water, hospitality, forestry and mineral resources with a view to exploiting them.
Hon. Bamisile renewed the agitation for someone from Ekiti South Senatorial District to govern the State since the coveted position has always been occupied by the Ekiti Central and Ekiti North Senatorial Districts. He added that it is unfair for Ekiti South to be denied such at the end of every election, urging the electorate to demonstrate their mandate at this time.
Ekiti State Chairman, APC, Barrister Paul Omotoso assured Hon. Bamisile of a level playing ground for every aspirant. He maintained that the leadership of the party has no anointed aspirant. The Chairman remarked that the APC can boast of credible and capable aspirants among those that have formally declared.
State Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr Segun Dipe said APC remains the party to beat in Ekiti at the governorship election fixed for June 2022. He explained that out of eight aspirants, five have formally declared so far. The PRO reiterated the believe of the party in ensuring a level playing field for every aspirant.
Leaders of the party from the sixteen Local Government Areas of the state, friends and colleagues from within and outside the state in their separate remarks described the lawmaker as possessing what it takes to take the state to the promised land.
They were unanimous in their views that Hon.Olufemi Richard Bamisile is a marketable product Ekiti People should not hesitate to buy.
