BREAKING: FORMER Nigerian Interim President, Ernest Shonekan is dead

Former Nigerian Interim President during the fallout of June 12, 1993 election violence, Chief Ernest Shonekan is dead.

Shonekan was arranged by the powers that be as the Interim President to douse the tension created by the annulment of the June 12, 1993 election believed to have been won by Chief MKO Abiola.

He took over from President Ibrahim Babangida.

Shonekan died at a hospital, in the Lekki Area of Lagos State, at the age of 85.

He was the Interim Head of the Nigerian Government between August 26 and November 17, 1993, before he was ousted in a coup led by late General Sani Abacha.
