Nigerians in diaspora are begging and crying to come back home to reunite with their families.

We produce some of the emotional messages from Nigerians in diaspora to Mrs Dabiri-Erewa and her response to each of them:

From @badiyaMani

“How long can we continue this way? I came here since November 1st, 2019 with my little boy, unfortunately I lost him here on the 22nd of May, will I be asking for too much if am allowed to go back to the rest of my family and cry in peace? 😭😭😭”

Response from Abike Dabiri:

“My deepest condolence. The hon Minister of Foreign Affairs who is in charge of evacuations will definitely look into these really worrying cases.”

Referring to the above, a sympathizer (@Mayor-ofph) wrote:

“@abikedabiri this is for your urgent attention.”

Response from Abike Dabiri:

“Then you are not in tune with the process. All decisions, logistics on evacuation / Covid 19 are taken by the hon Minister of Foreign Affairs . All requests go to him . And he has assured he will do his best.”

From Aliyu Lawal:

“Everyone knows that decisions rest with @GeoffreyOnyeama (NiDCOM is useless) who has since pushed it on the PTF, which is further thrown to the national coordinator that is working on some magic repatriation protocol. Thank you for everything!”

Response from Abike Dabiri

“Nidcom actually very efficient . But in this instance , we were not given the task. This is not strictly a Nidcom schedule .However. If we had been saddled with the task, we would have taken full responsibility . Pls await the Minister’s update .He will do his best”

From BadiyaMani:

“Please Ma. @GeoffreyOnyeama said the PTF national coordinator @DrSaniAliyu is the one in charge. Plead to them on our behalf. We have very sick people here. They need to come home. We all need to come home. This trauma is too much on us.”

Response Abike Dabiri:

“We will. The Minister is aware of your cries. He will do his best in the circumstances.”

@Modasola:

“Why does the Govt create agencies without giving them the necessary autonomy to make decisions. Every request/question directed to @nidcom_gov has been redirected to @NigeriaMFA What then is the delineation of roles between the 2, particularly during this period.”

Response from Abike Dabiri:

“This is not really about Nigerians living abroad, but about Nigerian travellers stranded . It’s an unexpected pandemic. A PTF was set up.. Task given by the HMFA was to help collate names.which we did. All other logistics strictly with the Min/ PTF”

Who will now deliver Nigerians stranded abroad?
