BREAKING: Protest Turns Violent As Shi’ites Clash With Police, Many Dead, NEMA Vehicles Set Ablaze

The capital city of Nigeria, Abuja was in a state of war as the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) clashed with the police on Monday in Abuja with at least six people died while the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA vehicles set ablaze by the protesters.

SHI’ITES:  It was gathered that the clash, which took place at the Federal Secretariat Complex, also had vehicles reportedly belonging to the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, set ablaze.

The protesters had gathered at the popular NITEL Junction in Wuse II for a protest march to the Three Arms Zone to continue their call for the release of their leader, Ibraheem El-Zakzaky, from government detention.

However, they were resisted by gun-wielding security personnel, who ordered that they stop their protest march and disperse.

In the ensuing fiasco, sporadic gunshots were fired which left about six persons feared dead and a journalist with Channels TV battling for his life.

The Shiites are demanding the release of their leader, Ibraheem El-Zakzaky, who has been in detention for alleged murder since December 2015.

Some other sources alleged that the Shiites threw petrol bombs as part of the protest.

A member of the Shiite group, Yahaya Mohammed, said the Shiite members were only having a peaceful protest when military officers attacked them.

“Which clash. There was no clash between us and anybody. It was a peaceful protest. Until these security officers just came and started shooting and attacking us,” Mr Mohammed said.
