The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade I, has criticized the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, for conferring the chieftaincy title of “Okanlomo of Yorubaland” on business tycoon Dotun Sanusi.
The Alaafin claims that, as the Titan of Yorubaland, he holds the exclusive right to confer titles covering the entire region.

The Alaafin asserts that the Ooni’s action is an affront to his institution and that only he can confer titles across Yorubaland.
The Alaafin noted that the instrument of office presented to the Ooni during his installation limits his traditional authority to the old Oranmiyan Local Government in Osun State, now split into Ife Central, Ife North, and Ife South LGAs.
Alaafin references a Supreme Court ruling that upheld his exclusive preserve to confer chieftaincy titles across Yorubaland.
The Alaafin demands the revocation of the title within 48 hours, warning that failure to comply would prompt further action.
