ERNEST SHONEKAN: The former Interim National Govetnment Chairman, Chief Ernest Shonekan is dead.

According to the news which went viral on social media on Tuesday evening ,Chief Ernest Shonekan died according to the family press release available.

But in a swift reaction, the Ogun State Government refuted the story that the former UAC Chairman has passed on.

The state government confirmed that former Head Of The Interim National Government, Chief Ernest Adegunle Oladeinde Shonekan is alive.

The governor through his spokesman said he spoke with the elder statesman minutes ago. The statement enjoined the public to disregard the rumour.

It will be recalled that the Ernest Shonekan was appointed the Interim National Chairman on August 27, 1993 after General Ibrahim Babangida was disgraced out of office following the June 12, 1993 election crisis.

Shonekan spent only three months in office as the dark goggled maximum ruler late General Sani Abacha overthrew Shonekan on Novembet 27, 1993.

As at the time of filling this report SOJWORLD.COM could not confirm if the formet ING Chairman is dead or still alive.
