OSUN State Security Network Agency popularly known as Amotekun Network has arrested a 29-year-old man identified as Lekan Bakare for allegedly raping a 35-year-old woman at gunpoint in Alusekere area of Ede, Osun State.
According to the Public Relations Officer of Amotekun Corps, Yusuf Idowu Abass, the suspect lured the woman to his residence where he raped the woman at gunpoint and knife.
“The Amotekun Corps arrested Lekan Bakare, a 29-year-old tailor and motorcycle operator, for the rape of a 35-year-old woman. The incident occurred in the Alusekere area of Ede.
According to the victim’s statement, the suspect lured her to his home under the pretext of helping her locate her missing ward. Upon her arrival, Bakare reportedly brandished a locally made pistol and a knife, using both weapons to intimidate and forcibly rape her.
Following the survivor’s prompt report at the Amotekun office, the corps swiftly swung into action. The suspect was arrested and has since confessed to the crime during interrogation. The case has been handed over to the appropriate authorities for prosecution.”
Commander of the Osun Amotekun Corps, Chief Dr Hon. Adekunle Isaac Omoyele reiterated the agency’s commitment to ridding the state of criminal elements and ensuring the safety and well-being of residents. He commended the public for providing timely information and encouraged continued collaboration with security agencies.
A legal action will be taken on the felon.
