SOJ WORLDWIDE: Could you please tell us about yourself?
Morenikeji: My name is QUADRI Morenikeji Abigail, I am 24 years old, Graduate of College of Health Science Technology, Ijero-Ekiti, I am the first runner-up of Miss Oodua 2018, I am also the Most Beautiful Igbo Girl Universe {MOBIGUN} Ambassador 2018. I am from Ondo State, Ikare-Akoko. I am a typical Yoruba girl.
SOJ WORLDWIDE: Morenikeji why are you here in Osogbo, what are you doing here?
Morenikeji: I came here to conduct a cultural beauty pageant for children age 8-15 years, I came to bring out the most beautiful girl and highly cultured girls among our children. I also came here to empower girl-child.
SOJ WORLDWIDE: Which of the region in Nigeria
Morenikeji: Southwest, Yoruba indigene.

SOJ WORLDWIDE: What do you stand to gain or what do you want to bring out of this project?
Morenikeji: I discovered that most parents failed to impact the knowledge of culture to their children right from their tender age and that is, most of our children adapt most to the western cultures. They don’t cherish our culture. What I stand to gain is the ability to impact the knowledge of culture to the children from their tender age.
I wanted to do it as beauty pageant because most girls have been looked down upon that they can’t do anything but during the beauty pageant we will discover hidden talents in them, and build cultural beauty in them, they can display what they know about their custom, culture and tradition.
SOJ WORLDWIDE: How far have you gone in this project?

Morenikeji: I have gone so far, the audition had been done, the contestants are ready, I decide to schedule the grand finale on the Children’s Day that is May 27, 2018 so that other children can come and watch and learn one or two things from the contestants.
SOJ WORLDWIDE: Why did you choose Osogbo out of all major cities in the southwest?
Morenikeji: I chose Osun State because it is the source of Yorubaland especially Ile-Ife which is our source from where Oduduwa originated. That is why I chose Osun State and Oshogbo being the capital.
SOJ WORLDWIDE: What are the challenges you are facing right now?
Morenikeji: The challenges I am facing right now is lack of funds, I need financial support, sponsors. We want to build a typical cultured Yoruba girl, I cannot do this alone. I want people to support me so that we can bring the best out of the children.
SOJ WORLDWIDE: How far have you gone about the support you needed, have you visited the traditional rulers or any of the governors in southwest?

Morenikeji: I don’t have the opportunity to visit them; If I have I would have visited them.
SOJ WORLDWIDE: Now the time is very short, considering the fact that the day is almost here, where is the venue of the event? How far have you gone?
Morenikeji: The venue is Osun State Arts and Cultural Centre, Testing Ground, Osogbo, Osun State. So I need people to support me and partner with me so that we can build our culture together.
SOJ WORLDWIDE: Whom have you met in Osun State concerning this project since you said you are cash strapped as it is now?
Morenikeji: I have not met anybody because I don’t have the opportunity to meet them. That is why I am using this opportunity to tell people that I need their support, I need their partnership, I can’t do this alone. Help to empower a girl child today……

SOJ WORLDWIDE: Is there anything you wish people to know concerning the culture in Yorubaland?
Morenikeji: There are so many things about Yoruba tribe and culture but I believe if they should support this programe and come over and watch, then they would see the beauty of our culture as our 13 contestants walk on stage and seven queens are crowned.
SOJ WORLDWIDE: What is your own aspiration or what do you wish to become in life?
Morenikeji: I want to become a big Cultural Ambassador, a role model to others that people can copy and emulate.
SOJ WORLDWIDE: You said something about the Igbo Culture, how manage, how did you win the Most Beautiful igbo girl Universe Ambassador [MOBIGUN AMBASSADOR} being a Yoruba girl?
Morenikeji: My love for culture made me go for the contest; I discovered that in Nigeria what causes corruption was because we are not ready to learn about each other’s culture, we just want to be on our own. For me to go to Igbo land and contest is because I am on a mission of peace. I want to know other people’s culture. I want to learn and adapt to their culture and from there I want to be a role model and example for others to follow. If I can learn their culture why can’t others?

SOJ WORLDWIDE: If you are in Igbo land as a Yoruba girl from Ondo State to be precise, How manage you were able to outsmart the indigene to win the prize?
Morenikeji: I won because I learn their culture, I want to know more about their culture and everything about their cultural heritage so I decided that I would learn it.
SOJ WORLDWIDE: Thank you very much Morenikeji
Morenikeji: Thank you.
