The Jordan Wike land case took a new turn as the claimant’s lawyer spoke out. Ibrahim Waru, counsel to businessman Safwan Garba, explained the dispute in a recent interview. He said online reports have described the matter wrongly. Jordan is the son of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike. However, he denies the claims, and the court has not ruled on them.
According to Waru, the case does not involve 60 hectares of land. Instead, he said the parties signed a joint venture agreement. Under it, the claimant would contribute $4.2 million. Meanwhile, Jordan would supply about 3.2 hectares across Guzape and Katampe. The partners planned to build houses for sale. Proceeds would split 60 per cent for the claimant and 40 per cent for Jordan.
Case at a glance
| Suit number | CV/008/2026 |
| Court | FCT High Court, Abuja |
| Claimants | Safwan Garba and GY Global Oil and Gas Nigeria Limited |
| Defendant | Jordan Wike |
| Deal size | $4.2 million contribution |
| Amount claimed | $2.1 million, plus ₦100 million damages |
| Disputed dates | 26 September and 17 October 2025 |
Waru said the claimant paid half of his share, which is $2.1 million. He claimed that Jordan acknowledged receiving it. After that, he said, the relationship changed. Consequently, the claimants now want a refund. They also seek ₦100 million in damages.
The dates are a key point in the dispute. Waru said 26 September 2025 was only the day the parties began talking about the deal. Those talks happened by phone and WhatsApp, he said. Furthermore, he said the cash changed hands on 17 October 2025 at a house in Gwarinpa. According to him, witnesses who helped carry the money have testified in court.
Jordan has told the court that he was outside the country around the time. However, Waru said the boarding pass he tendered carried no year. For that reason, Waru called the claim baseless. He also said the chats were tendered as an exhibit.
Waru has also asked for the case to move to another judge. He wrote to the Chief Judge of the FCT High Court on 7 October 2026. He said the claimant learned of close family and community ties between the defendant and the trial judge. As of now, he said, no reply has come. Sojworldnews could not find a public response from the court.
On the criminal side, the claimant also petitioned the EFCC. Waru said he submitted supporting documents and did everything the commission asked. Even so, he said the commission has not responded. He stopped calling after getting no answer. Therefore, the petition still has no update.
For his part, Jordan has denied receiving the money. He says a signature on the documents was forged. His lawyers have also questioned the claimants’ case in court. Importantly, the allegations remain unproven, and the case is still pending.
Sojworldnews will report new developments as they come in. This report presents the claimant’s side as stated by his lawyer. It does not establish guilt or liability.
