The Joseph Ayo Babalola University (JAMB) in Ikeji Arakeji, Osun State has expelled about 100 students over intake of drugs, marijuana and other various offences.
The university was shut for two weeks in May after a protest by the students against alleged insecurity on the campus.
On resumption, the Christ Apostolic Church-owned university asked some students not to return to school until cases of indiscipline were decided.
A message, made available to our correspondent on Saturday from the office of the registrar of the school, sent to an affected, read, “You are advised not to resume to the university on 12th of June 2019 when other students are expected on campus for their examination. However, if the panel clears you of the alleged offence, you will be allowed to take your examination during the long vacation.”
The spokesman of the institution, Mr Ayodele Olasanmi, however, said the number of affected students were fewer than 100.
He said,
“The affected students were not up to 100, I don’t know the specific number until I get to school on Monday but I am sure they are not up to 100.

“The students, who had cases of indiscipline and had faced the disciplinary panel of the university, were served with letters containing the appropriate sanctions for the offences they had committed as contained in the university students handbook.
“The letters sent to some of the affected students (through SMS) is to ensure that the students have the opportunity of fair hearing as it is our practice when facing the disciplinary committee.”
