The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has taken decisive steps to promote peace and unity within the party as it prepares for the 2026 governorship primary elections.

The State Working Committee (SWC) of the APC Press Release signed by Chairman Sooko Tajudeen Lawal available to SOJ WORLDWIDE announced a series of measures aimed at curbing verbal attacks and fostering discipline among party members and aspirants.

Key Decisions by Osun APC Working Committee

• Party executive officers at all levels (state, senatorial, local government, ward) are barred from acting as coordinators for any governorship aspirant.
• Spokesmen, leaders, members, and supporters of aspirants must avoid using abusive language when campaigning, with sanctions for non-compliance.
• The party will penalize any aspirant, supporter, or leader publishing derogatory messages against fellow aspirants via print, broadcast, or social media.
• No aspirant or supporter shall use revered party leaders’ or groups’ names to endorse a governorship candidate without repercussions.
• Aspirants’ coordinators are warned against fabricating claims of financial backing from party chieftains to prevent discord.
• Aspirants are urged to impress upon their supporters the need for decorum during campaigns; the party leadership won’t hesitate to take action against misconduct.

The SWC stressed that internal bickering serves no purpose other than undermining the party’s chances in the 2026 governorship election.

“The aspirations of all worthy and patriotic members of the party should be how to win the 2026 governorship election and not exchange of tantrums within the party,” the committee emphasized.

The party SWC is also investigating a programme involving generation of 1,000 names from each ward, handled by a Non-Governmental Organisation, with directives for the state chairman to probe its authenticity in Abuja.

Among other decisions made include,
