Man sentenced to prison for unlawful possession of human head in Osun

An Osun State High Court presided by Honourable Justice Kudirat Akano today convicted and sentenced Mr Moshood Babatunde imprisonment for unlawful possession of human part.
Convict was arraigned on Four (4) counts charges of Conspiracy to Commit unlawful possession of human head and other human part Contrary to Sections 516, 242(1)(b) 329A(1) and 242 (b) of the Criminal Code Law, Cap.34, Volume. II, Laws of Osun State, 2002.

Moshood Babatunde and Babatunde Adebayo were arrested on 13 October, 2011 and case reported at Oke-Odo Police Station, Osogbo, from where the case was transferred to State SCID, Osogbo, Osun State.
Babatunde Adebayo and others now at large.
The Prosecution team from the Ministry of Justice led by the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice Dr. Ajibola Basiru who appeared along with the Principal State Counsel, Matthew Adedokun in the case the prosecutors called three witnesses and tendered nine (9) exhibits before the Court.

The Counsel to the accused persons M.O Olufemi (Esq) initially opposed to the tender of the accused Confessional statements as an exhibit later applied to with the objection initially raised on the involuntariness of the confessional statement of the accused.
In his judgement Justice Kudirat Akano stated that the prosecution counsel has proved the case beyond reasonable doubt and from evidence before the Court has satisfied and hereby convicted and sentenced the accused as follows;
Count one (1), seven years imprisonment for unlawful possession of human head.

Count two (2), two years imprisonment for improperly and indecency, interference with and offers indignity to the Corpse,
Count three (3), two years imprisonment for intent to sell or use the human part for charms.
Sentenced shall be served concurrently.
