The Newly-Deployed Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Dr. Mutiu Oladele Agboke, has appealed to staff of the commission to discharge their duty with utmost fairness and good human relationship.
Agboke also charged the INEC Osun members of staff on the virtues of leadership, followers and relationship.
He made this known during a familiarisation meeting with management team and staff of the electoral commission on his assumption of duty as the new Osun INEC REC on Friday 4th, November 2022 in Osogbo.
While noting that it was a privilege for him to be among them as their boss, he expressed optimism that they can work together as a team.
“Any staff who is intellectually barren cannot work with me. We have to work together to complement each other because our staff are valuable. Doing this, we will have a memorable time together.
“Take punctuality seriously. Don’t come late to work and tell those who have traveled out and abandon their duty to resign. We will employ people that are ready to work to replace them
“They cannot travel out, abandon their duty and still be earning salaries from INEC.
“Public service rules are there. The rules encourage responsibility, sense of duty and discourage truancy. Most people today enjoy a good salary but they are not responsible at their jobs.
“INEC is known for serious business. We expect our staff to step up their consciousnesses and sense of responsibility. Being responsible in this period is key because we are moving towards the 2023 general elections. We don’t want them to carry a lackadaisical attitude into the general elections.

“So we must continue to talk to them. That is why at intervals, we organise capacity building training for them. We twine and refresh their memories and let them know what is obtained in the regulations for them to know what to and not to do.
“INEC is a special organisation in terms of the nature of the job we do so our staff cannot afford not to be up and doing.”
In his welcome address, the Administrative Secretary, Alani Oduntan, appreciated members and staff of the Commission for their support.
While describing the Osun INEC staff as the best Commission staff who are ready to work without compromise.
