A train along Kaduna-Abujs route derailed on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 leaving seven people injured.

In view of the incident, the Nigerian Railway Services (NRC) suspended their services along the route.

“Nigerian Railway Corporation has temporarily suspended all Abuja – Kaduna Train Services (AKTS) following the earlier incident.

Out of a total of 618 individuals on the train, 7 passengers suffered injuries of varying severity.

The remaining passengers were safely transported back to Idu and Kubwa stations by a rescue train sent from Idu.

The third-party ticketing agency has been instructed by NRC to promptly process refunds for all passengers on the disrupted service.”

It was gathered the incident occurred along the popular corridor shortly after the train departed Abuja around 11 a.m., en route to Kaduna.

The incident has caused passengers fleeing for safety, with many describing the scene as chaotic and frightening.

An eyewitness stated that the derailment happened without warning, triggering confusion as passengers rushed out of the derailed cabins.

The eyewitness said, “It is a complete pandemonium. People who were confirmed to be saved were seen running in different directions. It was pure panic.

“We can not confirm if everyone is safe yet but we pray everyone comes out alive.”
