OSUN State Amotekun Corps on Friday, April 18, 2025 paraded some suspected criminals, among whom was 27-year-old Saheed Babatunde.

 

Saheed told newsmen that he burgled the house to steal some cooking pots at about 8.30pm with the intention of using the proceeds for the naming of his baby.

 

He said he sold the pots worth N280,000 for N4,000 to a Mallam who has absconded, but the Amotekun Corps Commander, Dr. Hon. Adekunle Isaac Omoyele said “he can only run but he cannot hide.”

 

“On April 16, 2025, at approximately 20:00 hrs, personnel of the Corps apprehended one Saheed Babatunde, a 26-year-old male, in connection with the theft of iron steel valued at ₦280,000. The arrest followed a complaint lodged by a concerned citizen, prompting immediate action by our officers.

The suspect was tracked to his hideout in Isale-Osun, Osogbo, where he was arrested. During interrogation, he confessed to the crime and admitted to selling the stolen items to an individual identified as a Hausa man for the sum of ₦4,000.

 

Further investigation revealed that Saheed Babatunde is a repeat offender, having previously served a jail term for a similar offense. He is currently in custody and will be prosecuted accordingly.
