THE Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Ife Federal Constituency passed a vote of no confidence on the Deputy Governor of Osun State Prince Kola Adewusi, former National Chairman of the PDP, Prof. Wale Oladipo, and the Ife East PDP Chairman, Hon. Olasunkanmi Makinde, popularly known as Benco.
The decision was taken on Monday, September 1, 2025, during a constituency meeting held at the residence of the Osun East Senatorial leader, according to a communiqué obtained by SOJWORLDWIDE.
The statement read in part:
“That the party is dissatisfied with the actions and conduct of Hon. Bimbo Ajilesoro, Member of the House of Representatives, who defected from the party with the mandate freely given to him by our people.
“That party leaders strongly condemn the invitation of thugs and hoodlums to the Ife Federal Constituency meeting by the Party Chairman, Hon. Olasunkanmi Makinde (a.k.a Benco), purportedly on the instructions of Prof. Wale Oladipo. This meeting was earlier scheduled to be held at the residence of the deputy governor.
“That the leadership is equally disappointed by the continued fraternity of Prof. Wale Oladipo, the Deputy Governor Prince Kola Adewusi, and the Ife East PDP Chairman, Hon. Olasunkanmi Makinde (a.k.a Benco), with Hon. Bimbo Ajilesoro, who has since defected from the party.
“That in Ife East, the party is enraged that loyal members such as Lawrence Omotosho, Adeyinka Adeniji (a.k.a Gbogbo Ebe), Yakubu Olawusi, and others, who openly disassociated themselves from Hon. Bimbo Ajilesoro following his defection, are being continuously victimised by being relieved of their government and party positions.

More importantly, party meetings in Ife East Local Government have been put on hold by these leaders, thereby weakening party activities in the area.”
In the resolution obtained on Tuesday, the leaders declared that the actions of the Deputy Governor, Oladipo, and Makinde posed
“grave danger to the success of the party in Ife land.”
It further reads: “In view of the above, which amount to anti-party activities and pose grave danger to the success of the party in Ifeland, the meeting hereby resolves as follows: A vote of no confidence is passed on Prof. Wale Oladipo, the Deputy Governor Prince Kola Adewusi, and the PDP Chairman of Ife East Local Government, Hon. Olasunkanmi Makinde (a.k.a Benco).”
Deputy Governor Prince Kola Adewusi Reacts
In a Press Statement signed by the Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Goke Awoyemi available to SOJ WORLDWIDE, he said in as much as internal wranglings are embedded in party politicking, it should not be allowed to weaken the system.
Awoyemi appealed to the aggrieved parties to sheath their swords and allow party leaders to intervene to resolve the crisis amicably. According to him, this is not the time to promote or celebrate any crisis in the state.
“We wish to bring it to the awareness of the general public that in as much as internal wranglings are embedded in party politicking, this should strengthen the system, and our collective reasoning, and should not be allowed to weaken our collective effort in serving our immediate communities, and society at large.
We therefore appeal to both sides to sheath their swords and allow the top hierarchy of the party to pacify the aggrieved. This is not the season to celebrate a crisis, and promote one, but a time to put effort together, and gear up towards working together with a view to celebrating our hard working and highly performing Governor Ademola Adeleke’s victory in August 8, 2026.
Meanwhile, the Osun State Government in a Press Release signed by the Commissioner of Information and Public Enlightenment, Hon. Oluomo Kolapo Alimi available to SOJ WORLDWIDE described the crisis in Ife Federal Constituency as a family affairs that will be resolved by the party leadership.
He said the Deputy Governor, Prince Adewusi, Prof. Oladipo and other leaders indicted are “committed stakeholders who could not be involved in any anti-party activities.”
Alimi added that Prince Adewusi and Prof Oladipo “remain trusted top state officials who are pillars of grassroot support and pivotal to the progress and sustainability of the administration,”
“Be that as it may, Government wishes to use this medium to state without hesitation, in any form whatsoever, that the crisis has not affected the position of Prince Kola Adewusi as the Osun state Deputy Governor as he also retains his position as a strong and loyal party man whose integrity and commitment to the present administration is not in doubt.
‘By whatever yardstick, the Government still reposes strong confidence in him as the second in command to the Governor. His position is not in any way affected by the controversy.
“In the same vein, Osun State Government wishes to reaffirm its confidence in Prof.Wale Oladipo, as he retains his position, not only as a member of the Board of Trustees of our party( PDP) from the state but his chairmanship position of Osun State University Governing Council Chairman.
“The government is pleased to add that both the state Deputy Governor, Prince Kola Adewusi and Professor Wale Ladipo are in good working relationship with the State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke and the PDP led administration. Not for once, has the integrity and strong loyalty of the duo been in doubt.

“The government appeals to all party leaders within the federal constituency to sheath their swords and allow the party internal mechanism to treat their grievances. All issues will be looked into.
“Finally, the Government is using this avenue to appeal for calm and restraint just as it thumbs up the Osun State Chapter of the PDP for its swift response to the crisis and the urgent need to embrace peaceful dialogue geared towards resolving the impasse”, the statement concluded.
