Parents of graduate of Poly Ibadan allegedly killed by the police in Shoprite, Ibadan speaks

The parents of 21-year-old graduate of Ibadan Polytechnic, Olubunmi Akinola Babatunde allegedly killed by the police at the Shoprite, Ringroad, Ibadan and his friend reacted to his sudden death.

Tunde was said to be a cult member and was shot dead by the police and his body was dumped in the nearby dunghill.

Tunde’s mother said her son neither smoke nor drink alcohol and she has known him not to be a hooligan not to talk of being a cult member. 

His father also corroborated what his mother said but he has taken solace in God to accept what has happened.

Eyewitness told BBC Yoruba that Akinola was with his friends at the Shoprite when the Police were pursuing some Suspected criminals. Tunde who was with his friends ran not knowing what actually happened, he was caught thinking he was among those they were pursuing and was shot. His body was carried away with the intention of taking him to the hospital but was later found where he was dumped in the dunghill.
