Police arrest suspect over gospel artiste death – The Lagos State Police Command has arrested one suspect over the death of a popular gospel artiste and three others inside a music studio in Ajah, Lagos State.

According to the police, the arrest followed preliminary findings linked to the event where the victims performed. Subsequently, police spokesperson SP Abimbola Adebisi confirmed that officers transferred the case from the Ajah Police Division to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba.

Furthermore, investigators identified the suspect as the organiser of the programme attended by the victims before their deaths. Meanwhile, detectives have continued questioning the suspect as forensic experts prepare the autopsy report.

Police Identify Victims

Meanwhile, the police identified the victims as gospel artiste Matthew Ogundele, Itunu Ogundele, Joseph Sanya, and blogger Matthew Awosanya, popularly known as JoesTv.

According to police reports, the group attended a birthday praise programme in Ajah. After the event ended late, they decided to spend the night inside the music studio. As a result, they remained in the studio until the following morning.

However, events soon took a tragic turn.

Studio Owner Raises Alarm

The next day, the studio owner arrived at the premises. However, he found the door locked from the inside. Consequently, he raised an alarm and called for help.

Shortly afterward, people forced the door open. Sadly, they discovered the four victims lying lifeless inside the studio. Immediately, emergency responders rushed them to Mainland Hospital, Yaba. Unfortunately, doctors confirmed them dead on arrival.

Police Await Autopsy Findings

After confirming the deaths, authorities moved the bodies to the Mainland General Hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy. At the same time, police officers examined the scene thoroughly.

Notably, detectives reported no visible signs of violence on the bodies. Therefore, investigators believe the autopsy report will play a crucial role in determining the exact cause of death.

Meanwhile, the incident has sparked widespread shock and grief across social media. In particular, members of the gospel music community have expressed deep sorrow.

In addition, fans and colleagues have demanded a transparent investigation and justice for the victims. Consequently, the police assured the public that they would conduct a thorough and professional investigation.
