Police Foil Kidnap Attempt, Rescue 76 Children in Kaduna

The Nigeria Police Force has foiled an attempted attack and kidnapping in Kaduna State. The operation led to the rescue of 76 children in the Kasuwan Magani area.

The police also arrested three suspects during the operation. All the rescued children were unharmed.

Police Rescue 76 Children in Kaduna After Intelligence Report

The incident happened on January 5, 2026, at about 8:00 p.m. The Kaduna State Police Command received credible intelligence about a planned attack.

The information showed that suspects planned to attack vehicles carrying children through the area.

Immediately, the Divisional Police Officer of Kasuwan Magani mobilised officers to the location. The move helped prevent the attack.

Police Repel Attack and Secure Victims

When officers arrived, they encountered the suspects. The police engaged them and successfully repelled the attack.

During the operation, officers rescued 76 children. The children included boys and girls aged between seven and twenty years.

Police confirmed that none of the children sustained injuries.

Three Suspects Arrested During Operation

The police arrested three suspects at the scene. They identified them as Jonathan John, aged 25, Oliver Magaji, aged 27, and Bitrus Sawaba, aged 23.

According to preliminary findings, the suspects were transporting the children to other parts of the country.

The police believe the suspects intended to use the children for child labour and domestic work.

Rescued Children Placed Under Police Protection

The police have taken the rescued children to the Kaduna State Police Command Headquarters. Officers are keeping them safe.

Meanwhile, authorities are working to identify their parents or legal guardians for reunification.

Investigation Ongoing as Police Search for Collaborators

The police have launched a full investigation into the incident. They are also searching for other people linked to the crime.

The suspects remain in police custody. The police will charge them to court after investigations end.
