POLICEMAN takes cover in a shop after gunmen killed three of his colleagues (WATCH HIDEOUT ON VIDEO)

A viral video was seen where a Policemen knelt down in a shop to hide away from gunmen who had killed three of his colleagues in an attack at a checkpoint in Enugu.

In the less than one minute video, the police officer panicking, knelt down inside the shop and removed his phone from his pocket to make a call.

In the video, the man who was capturing the moment with a camera could be heard asking the policeman if any police officer was killed in the attack.

The man asked the policeman to stay inside the shop for safety, adding that he would help check outside if the situation was under control.

The video appeared on social media some minutes after gunmen attacked a Police checkpoint near Ulumalinda estate, Enugu South LGA, which led to the death of three Police Officers, on Thursday afternoon.

The gunmen were said to have shot sporadically in the area after killing the officers.

In recent months, there have been several attacks by gunmen on communities across states in the South-east region.

In January, two persons were killed after gunmen invaded the Headquarters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu state.

The incident happened about two months after a female officer was abducted in an attack on the Police Divisional Headquarters in Umulokpa, Uzo-Uwani LGA of the state.
