It is a sad time for fans and lovers of gospel singer and evangelist Bunmi Akinaanu, better known as Omije Ojumi, is dead
According to reports, the singer took ill around 2025, and all efforts to get her back on her feet were futile. Reports claim that the undisclosed ailment was linked to her leg.
The gospel singer was 46 years old before her untimely death.
The sad news of her death is coming just a day after Pastor Segun Arole asked after her on Instagram.
He said,
“Where is Singer Omije Oju mi?. We heard that she was sick and we donated money. You can’t tell us to be praying without knowing her condition. What are the Yoruba Gospel artistes doing about this? People close to her should please update us about her situation. If she needs more money for medical treatment, let us know. This woman must not d!e”.

The sad news is coming while Yoruba Nollywood is still dealing with the loss of Allwell Ademola. Kemi Filani reported on 27th that the actress had passed away after suffering a heart attack at her residence. The sad news was confirmed by colleagues of the deceased via their respective social media. The likes of Damola Olatunji, Mr Latin, Faithia Williams, and Bidemi Kosoko were the first to mourn her.
She was finally laid to rest last week in the presence of her colleagues, family, friends, and loved ones.

Just a day back, BBNaija former housemate, Liquorose, was thrown into mourning as she lost a loved one. Though not revealing who, she shared a candlelight photo on her Instagram page, expressing heartbreak over the person’s death.
The death of Bunmi Akinaanu is coming after the death of popular singer, Aduke Gold, who was pronounced dead by medical experts.
Following her untimely death, her family raised a complaint with University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, claiming that the staff of the medical facility were responsible for the gospel singer’s demise. They claimed that the medical officials at the hospital allegedly delayed treatment of her, which led to her demise
Similarly, prominent television presenter, actress, fashion designer and singer Lara Odubo died on Saturday, July 28th, 2024. The sad news was made known by blogger Temilola Sobola. Though the cause of her death was unknown, reports claimed that the entertainer had been ill for some days before her passing.
Another Gospel singer, Dare Melody, had lost his beloved wife, Adedoyin Odunuga nee Odagi. The sad news was made on the singer’s Instagram page, though he didn’t reveal what caused her death.
In 2024, many were thrown into mourning after losing veteran Christian actor Moses Korede, popularly known as Baba Gbenro.
In other news, gospel artist Chris Lungu offered a word of advice to Nollywood practitioners following the series of deaths. He admonished them to draw closer to God and take their safety and health more seriously. He noted how they work diligently to put smiles on the faces of viewers, yet some of them pass away mysteriously. He stated that their careers involve exposing the kingdom of darkness, and the devil can never be pleased with it.
