The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has cautioned the state Governor Ademola Adeleke to stop making a mountain out of a mole hill on the remark of former Speaker of the State House of Assembly, the Right Honourable Timothy Owoeye, about the status of the embattled governor.

It would be recalled that Hon Owoeye, in a radio programme on Monday, monitored in Osogbo, the capital of the state, had described Senator Adeleke as a ‘caretaker governor’ which has provoked copious amounts of caustic responses from the spokesman of the state chief executive, pliable civil society groups and some individuals of the PDP extraction.

It was a pity that those who have armed themselves in the defence of the governor against the immediate-past Speaker resorted to killing an ant with a sledge hammer.

There was nothing that the Right Honourable Owoeye had said in his remark that should have warranted the quantum of diatribes being shot at the man of candour who would say his mind without minding whose ox is gored.

We sympathize with Governor Adeleke and his cohorts that the former Speaker really struck their metaphorical political boil which was the reason the governor and his aides have been talking from both sides of their mouths as if the innocent remark of Owoeye has automatically changed his status to that of a caretaker.

There was more to the series of reactions from the governor’s aides than meet the eye and one does not need rocket science to suspect and conclude that the unsavoury development was a mere transferred aggression from the governor’s side, orchestrated by the gale of defections of their Peoples Democratic Party PDP chieftains and members into the opposition APC party in the state.

The defections of the PDP members into the APC which have become a recurring decimal in Osun State, the latest of which was led by Hon Wole Oke, a ranking House of Representatives member representing Obokun/Oriade Constituency, has really destabilized the leadership of the PDP and the government in the state.

We understand the plight of the Osun State chapter of the PDP which is witnessing the factors that would culminate into the defeat of the party by the ever-vibrant APC in the next year’s election.

The PDP and Governor Adeleke are further pained because the Court of Appeal reinstated APC executive chairmen and councillors are currently calling the shots in all the local government council areas across the state.

If the unwarranted response of the reigning government is not predicated on a transferred aggression, we wonder why it is beyond the comprehension of the governor and his allies in government not to know that the meaning of any word spoken at any point in time is not total.

It is also worthwhile to impress it on Governor Adeleke that we are going into the 2026 governorship election to win without cutting corners and no amount of complaints or tantrums would stop the accomplishment of the mission as the minimalist state governor has proved to the people that his best is not suitable for the socio-political and economic development of the state.

What the Right Honourable Owoeye was telling the PDP-led administration in the state is that the state APC would win the next governorship election through constitutional means as all the factors that aided the PDP to rig the elections through the use of maximum violence would no longer be allowed to thrive.
