Troops Raid Kidnappers’ Den in Edo, Arrest 13 Suspects (PHOTOS)

Troops of the Nigerian Army raided suspected kidnappers’ hideouts in Edo State and arrested 13 suspects during a coordinated security operation.

Accordingly, the operation forms part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks and restore peace across the state.

Security Forces Target Kidnappers’ Hideouts

Following credible intelligence, security agencies carried out the operation in the Edo North Senatorial District.

Meanwhile, troops worked closely with officers of the Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian Air Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the Edo State Security Corps.

As a result, the joint security teams stormed several locations, including Osara Community, Auchi, Okpella, and nearby forest areas used by criminals.

Troops Arrest 13 Suspects

During the operation, security operatives arrested 13 suspected kidnappers and accomplices.

Initially, troops apprehended eight suspects at different hideouts. Subsequently, they arrested five more suspects during a forest sweep.

Furthermore, investigators believe the suspects actively engaged in kidnapping, armed robbery, and drug-related crimes within the area.

Troops Recover Weapons and Drugs

In addition, troops recovered several dangerous items from the suspects during the raid.

  • One pump-action gun
  • One locally made pistol
  • Live cartridges
  • Cutlasses
  • Mobile phones
  • Illicit drugs, including cannabis and tramadol
  • Cash and other personal item

Consequently, security officials described the recovery as a major success in disrupting criminal activities in Edo North.

Police Take Over Investigation

After the operation, troops handed over the suspects and recovered exhibits to the Edo State Police Command.

Therefore, police authorities have begun further investigations to identify other gang members and rescue any remaining victims.

Army Restates Commitment to Edo Security

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Army praised the strong cooperation among all security agencies involved in the operation.

Additionally, military authorities restated their commitment to making Edo State unsafe for kidnappers and other criminals.

Finally, authorities urged residents to continue sharing credible information with security agencies to help sustain peace across the state.
