The Yoruba adage says, “Ilu o kere ka ma ma lagba” meaning – no matter how small a village could be there must be an elder.
Events of insecurity in all the geographical zones in Nigeria showed that the elders have gone to sleep or they are non-existent. How do you described a country that prided itself to be the giant of Africa where there are massive abductions of our children, spilling of innocent blood, individuals speaking against the peace of all, yet, none at the helm of affairs taking a decisive action!.
The silence of President Muhammadu Buhari in the midst of these evil signals give credence to the rumour mill that the man in Aso Rock is not Buhari.
Surely there is doubt if this is the same man who declared on his inauguration day in 2015 that “I belong to everybody and I belong to nobody.”. Events have shown clearly now that he meant the opposite of what he declared.
Our security are busy chasing the shadow while the substance were left to operate without hindrance. Terrorists are left to operate while those fighting against it are being trailed for arrests.
At this juncture, Nigeria has no sense of direction, it is now “everyone to your tent .”
What Buhari should remember, his name will never be forgotten for life as the President of Nigeria for good or for bad, this now depends on how he navigates the ship.
In the next 20 years, to say the least, many would not remember any of his ministers, the Vice-president’s name can only be remembered if a question is asked, “Who is Vice-president to President Buhari”.
The essence of this scenario is that the bucks stop on the table of Mr. President and not those feeding him with lies on the current situations of things in the land. They are political jobbers who will go with highest bidders when the chips are down. The whole burden to rescue Nigeria from this impending bloodshed is on President Buhari.
From Yorubaland to Igboland to the entire north, it is either killings or mass abductions of innocent students. What a country!
Yet our President kept his cool as if all is well. The Fulanis are everywhere as if they are the only ethnic groups that owned the country troubling its peace without any action against the perpetrators. I doubt if these criminal elements are Nigerians because Nigerians can never be this callous and wicked.
What usually happens before the eruption of bloody war is already with us in Nigeria, in the southwest, a marching order have been given to Herdsmen. There is armed struggles against the Fulanis from the East while the entire North is under chaos.
The truck loads of pepper and tomatoes have been intercepted at Jebba in Kwara State from coming to the South. The truth is that we are in it together. The South can also take a drastic action to intercept trucks with fuel from going to the north. What will now happen, will Buhari still keep silent?
It is not too late for President Buhari to wake up, we want to know where he stands, is it on the side of Nigeria or on the side of the killer Fulanis ? We want to know.
I doubt if the purpose for electing President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015 and 2019 is to be our undertaker to take us to our early graves. God forbid!
