A Senior Consultant at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, Prof A.K. Salami was suspended for “unethical conduct in the admission, management and eventual release of the corpse of a suspected Covid -19 patient who died in the hospital on the 3rd of April, 2020.”

The Management of University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital hereby suspend Prof A K Salami as a Senior Consultant in the Hospital.
This is as a result of his unethical conduct in the admission, management and eventual release of the corpse of a suspected Covid -19 patient who died in the hospital on the 3rd of April, 2020.

Background Story:
The deceased, Alhaji Obanimomo, actually had contacted the virus on his way from his trip abroad. But concealed from people with the help of the Prof. Salami until it became out of hand, he was then rushed to the hospital in the pretence that it was food poison.

However a lot were exposed unknowingly.:
1) Doctors that treated him
2) The Prof himself
3) The wife
4) The transporter that took the corpse to Offa.
5) Everybody at the burial in Offa.
6) Any other that came across within the period of illness to the final burial.

– He lied about the health and traveling status of the Deceased to get him admitted by UITH.
– He exposed and compromised the health of quite a number of Resident Doctors and by extension a lot of medical personnel at UITH.

– He equally hid the cause of death of the Deceased and in the process, compromised the health of the Mortuary Workers and the Ambulance Driver that drove the Deceased to Offa
– The Deceased is a Muslim, when his body arrived Offa, he was washed and properly buried in accordance with Islamic rites. I am sure someone is already estimating the number of people that could have contracted this deadly disease just because of lack of integrity, wickedness and irresponsibility of “supposedly two powerful Individuals.
Our request is simple, Salaman and his accomplice, The Chief Medical Doctor of UITH must be relieved of their duties, arrested and prosecuted accordingly.”
The wife of the late Obanimomo tested positive for covid-9 was admitted at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital.
