2023 presidency: PDP zones National Chairman slot to North

The Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) has zoned the office of its National Chairman to the North.

The zoning committee Chairman and Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu state declared this at the end of a meeting in Abuja on Thursday.

He said the mandate of his committee did not include zoning of the office President and Vice President.

The decision came after a meeting of PDP Governors’ Forum held on Wednesday night where nine governors were said to have voted in favour of the position of National Chairman going to the South against three that backed the North.

Invariably, the presidency would be zoned to the south , with the antecedent of chairmanship and presidential candidate position in the PDP since 1999.

It was reported that the development may rule out the possibility of PDP’s former presidential candidate and ex-Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, and former Kano State governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso from running for president under the party in 2023.
