The Waziri Atiku Political Family and Associates (WAPFA) has reacted to an unsubstantiated publication credited to one PDP ACTION 2023 in the Daily Trust Newspaper of September 1, 2021 signed by its Chairman, Rufus Omeire that the former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar abandoned the party for a stay in Dubai after the 2019 general elections.

In a powerful rejoinder signed by the spokesperson of WAPFA, Dr. Toyin Komolafe made available to SOJ WORLDWIDE, http://www.sojworldnews.com, Komolafe said, “
“The said group (PDP ACTION 2023) attempted, unsuccessfully, to twist logic on its head.”
“It is inconceivable for any politically conscious Nigerian to regard the candidacy of former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar in any political party as a liability and a waste of slot.
Without fear of contradiction, Atiku is far ahead of his competitors within and outside our party in terms of preparedness, experience, exposure, network, capacity, physical and mental alertness.

Atiku as a democrat has a deep understanding of issues- local and international, right attitude to leadership, highly detribalised and all that makes for effective and efficient leadership in this digital age.
In fact the failure of this current administration has further opened up a wider acceptability nationally for him, as many Nigerians now see that even the worst of Atiku cannot be as bad as what we are currently experiencing as a Nation today.

Most Nigerians know that Alhaji Atiku defeated the incumbent in the last election, but he was cleverly rigged out. It is not only laughable but unimaginable for anyone or group to suggest that Atiku abandoned the party and ran away to Dubai in order to shield himself from party members.
Atiku is a global citizen, his network politically and economically spans across the length and breadth of the universe, he doesn’t have to be in Nigeria to be abreast of developments in Nigeria and his party because we are living in a global village. Where you live or operate from is immaterial in this regard. While away, he was in touch with critical stakeholders of the party and was instrumental to resolving conflicts and contestation within the party.

Waziri is not an individual within the PDP family, he is a phenomenon, a mass movement that any party would not hesitate to put forward as it’s candidate in any election.
The political dynamics have since changed in his favour since 2015, Nigerians have come to the realisation that they entered a “one chance” in 2019 and they are determined not to repeat the same mistake in 2023.

The publication of ” PDP Action 2023 group” questions their commitment and loyalty to our great party, not a few people within our party see them as moles planted within us by the ruling APC to act as rabble rousers thereby causing confusion to place us in a position of weakness towards 2023.
If they are genuine lovers of our party, they should join hands with all lovers of Nigeria, lovers of democracy and our party to put our best feet forward come 2023, by first building a strong, virile, United and focused party that would earn the trust of our people.

This is not the time for experimentation or learning on the ropes. Our great Party, PDP and indeed Nigeria deserves the very best to lead us out of the woods and this is what Waziri Atiku Abubakar represents, the statement concluded.”
