FORMER Vice Presidential Candidate in the 2019 general elections, Dr. (Prince) Adesoji Adeleke Masilo on Thursday, October 23, 2025 sent his congratulatory message to Prof. Joash Amupitan as the new National Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman.
Amupitan was officially sworn in as INEC Chairman on Thursday by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The Osun State Chairman of Because of Our Tomorrow (BOOT) Party and Pioneer Chairman of Osun State Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Masilo advocated for the new INEC Chairman to come from either the Southwest or North Central was relieved when Amupitan’s name from the North Central was announced.
He hinged his argument on the fact that every other zone apart from the Southwest and North Central has headed the electoral body since independence.

He commended President Tinubu for the appointment of Amupitan from the North Central in fulfillment of his long-awaited expectations.
In the statement available to SOJ WORLDWIDE, Masilo urged the new INEC boss to maintain the highest standards of impartiality and transparency in the conduct of future elections in Nigeria.
