AD-MEDINA rehabilitates borehole in Abuja — Joy erupted in the Anagada community in the Gwagwalada Area Council of Abuja following the rehabilitation of a long-faulty borehole by AD-MEDINA.

Speaking shortly after the exercise, the Chairman of AD-MEDINA, Yakubu Gowon Adama, said the organization is committed to the charitable mission of providing potable water for Nigerians and beyond, despite its limited resources.

Making it the fifth similar project executed in 2026 alone, Alhaji Yakubu Gowon Adama stated that the number of requests from communities and organizations seeking assistance with potable water supply has become overwhelming. He added that the organization only responds to requests based on the resources available at its disposal.

When asked how the NGO finances such projects, he explained that funding comes through voluntary donations from individuals, institutions, NGOs, companies, government agencies, as well as personal contributions from members of the organization.

He further noted that the NGO has identified a huge water deficit across Nigeria and called on Nigerians, institutions, firms, and government agencies to partner with the organization financially in addressing the challenge.

Meanwhile, a cross-section of residents of Anagada who spoke with journalists expressed appreciation to AD-MEDINA for intervening in their plight. According to them, the borehole, which was originally provided by the community, became faulty in early 2023, making access to clean water extremely difficult ever since.

Earlier, the spokesperson of the NGO, Alhaji Kashimu, stated that the organization remains committed to its humanitarian mission of providing potable water to deserving Nigerians and other underserved communities beyond the country. However, he noted that the responsibility has become too enormous for the organization to shoulder alone.

He explained that the NGO has already procured the necessary equipment and engaged qualified experts for the drilling of motorized boreholes, but requires collaboration, particularly in the areas of funding and land provision, to make the vision more achievable and sustainable.

He further disclosed that beneficiaries of future borehole projects would be expected to provide counterpart funding, while AD-MEDINA would provide the equipment and technical expertise needed for the drilling and installation processes.

Alhaji Kashimu added that the partnership arrangement is open to individuals, companies, NGOs, and government institutions willing to support the provision of potable water to communities in need.

AD-MEDINA is a non-governmental organization established to provide basic amenities and essential support services to underserved communities in Nigeria and beyond.
